Description

A trip to Oahu’s North Shore is not complete without a visit to a notable landmark, the Laie Hawaii Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The peaceful grounds of this spiritual place offer an idyllic setting to explore.

Often called the “Taj Mahal of the Pacific,” it was the first temple built outside the continental US. It was dedicated in 1919 to serve members throughout the Pacific and has a ten-foot marble replica of Thorvaldsen’s “Christus” statue. Free trams depart from the Polynesian Cultural Center to tour Laie, the Temple and the Brigham Young University-Hawaii campus.

All are welcome to visit the Temple grounds, including its Visitors’ Center and Family History Center; but, only members of the Church may enter the temple.

The Polynesian Cultural Center’s island villages are open from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. ending with the Horizons show at 9 p.m. Packages start at $43. For more information or reservations call 800-367-7060 or visit www.Polynesia.com.
