Music of Hawaii

Double Lines

From traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music to touring musicians and shows, Hawaii has a variety of live music spots to discover.

Kauai
Duke’s Canoe Club at the Marriott's Kauai Beach Club fronts beautiful Kalapaki Beach and features contemporary and traditional Hawaiian music. Stevenson’s Library at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa offers live jazz. The Hanalei Family Community Center is home to regular slack key guitar and ukulele concerts.

Oahu
You’ll find music all along Waikiki’s main strip of Kalakaua Avenue, from street performers to local musical legends. Listen to traditional Hawaiian music and watch the hula at the Moana Surfrider and other Waikiki resorts. Tiki’s Grill & Bar and Duke’s Canoe Club feature contemporary Hawaiian music. Listen to jazz at the Lewers Lounge in the Halekulani Hotel — Esquire magazine once named this one of the best bars in America.

Beyond Waikiki you’ll find other music venues. Just a few minutes away in the Ala Moana Center (Hawaii’s largest open-air shopping mall) the Mai Tai Bar features popular island music in a lively hot spot. Downtown Honolulu’s Chinatown is an urban setting that is home to stylish bars and restaurants featuring jazz, rock and DJs.

Maui
Located right on stunning Kaanapali Beach in the Whaler's Village, the Hula Grill offers live music as well as dishes created by chef Peter Merriman, one of the twelve original founders of the Hawaii Regional Cuisine movement. Further south in Lahaina, Front Street offers a variety of live music stops, from Kimo’s to Cheeseburger in Paradise.

Hawaii's Big Island
On the historic Kona Coast in Historic Kailua Village (Kailua-Kona), head to the Kona Brewing Company for live music every Sunday at sunset as well as their handcrafted, locally brewed ales and lagers. Lulu’s seaside Kailua-Kona setting is the place to be for live music, dancing and DJs (Lulu’s also has a location in Waikiki on Oahu).
