Hilo has more than its share of sophisticated shops and galleries because so many artists call this town home. Several of these galleries can be found within Hilo’s charming old wooden buildings, many of which are on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Hilo Art Museum exhibits a burgeoning collection of local and international art. Stop by the Chase Gallery for the latest in glass, sculpture, and paintings by local artists. The Grove Gallery specializes in a variety of locally made crafts including ceramics, woodwork, glasswork, and jewelry. Best of all, each of these galleries are within strolling distance along and around Kamehameha Avenue overlooking beautiful Hilo Bay.
