Maui Nui Botanical Gardens Fourth Annual Earth Day Celebration

Join Maui Nui Botanical Gardens for the fourth annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22nd, 2006 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Come participate in Hawaiian cultural activities like making kapa from wauke fiber, cordage from hau fiber, lei making and nose flutes, too!

Play konane (Hawaiian checkers), ulu maika (lawn bowling) and try your hand at ihe (spear throwing). See demonstrations of poi pounding and a sham battle by Na Koa Kau I Ka Meheu O Na Kupuna. There will be ono food booths and live entertainment by Uncle Richard Hoopii, George Kahumoku, Jr., Anthony Natividad, Ola Hou, and hula with Gordean Bailey and Wehiwehi O Leilehua! There will also be a native plant sale and a silent auction as fundraisers for the Gardens. It's FUN, it's FREE, and it's a great FAMILY activity.
