Island Chapter Update:
Kauai Visitors Bureau

Kauai Voted World’s Best Hawaiian Island and 2nd Best in the World by Travel + Leisure Magazine for 2006

Kauai – called Hawaii’s Island of Discovery and for good reason – has been ranked as the #1 island in Hawaii by readers of Travel + Leisure in the category of World’s Best Hawaiian Island.  One of the travel industry’s preeminent publications, Travel + Leisure magazine surveyed its readership during the first quarter of 2006 in determining the results for its World’s Best Islands.  Kauai ranked second among the overall listing of World’s Best Island, trailing only Bali.  Respondents judged the islands based on five characteristics: natural attractions; activities/sights; restaurants/food; people; and value.  Edie Hafdahl, KVB’s Director of Sales and Marketing, accepted the award for Kauai at Travel + Leisure’s annual awards ceremony in New York City on July 20th.

“Kauai Made” Label Launched in 2006

The County of Kauai, Office of Economic Development launched a new “Kauai Made” label on July

28, 2006.  The program supports the marketing of goods produced on island.  In order to carry the label, vendors must demonstrate that their products are either made on Kauai or made with Kauai materials.  The program is designed to enhance the visitor’s shopping experience by branding those products made on Kauai.
