Description

Recognized the world over for their bright colors and bold graphic designs, Hawaiian quilts reflect the island lifestyle and flora where they were made. On Wednesday, October 26, Kona Historical Society hosts author Loretta G. H. Woodard, textile conservator Linda Hee, and Hawaiian Quilt Research Project Board President Deborah H. Dunn. They will present “Communities of Quilters on Hawaii Island” and discuss the fascinating history and evolution of Hawaiian quilts and their care. The 2016 community cultural and historical lecture series, spotlighting local and state speakers, is held at the West Hawaii Civic Center the last Wednesday of each month from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Presented by Kona Historical Society, in cooperation with Hawaii County, this free, public series is a gift from the Society to the community. This lecture is generously sponsored by Rob & Barbara Kildow and supported by West Hawaii Today. For more information call 808-323-3222 or go to www.konahistorical.org.
