Description

On Wednesday, September 28, Pualani Lincoln Maielua will present “Alii Wahine: Female Leadership and Sacred Places of Ancient Kona,” on the Hawaiian chiefesses of Kona, whose lineages hailed from the gods, and the sacred places which ground them. Maielua is an aukai (long distance voyager) aboard the voyaging canoe Makalii, and an instructor at UHCWH in the Hawaii Lifestyles program. The 2016 community cultural and historical lecture series, spotlighting local and state speakers, is held at the West Hawaii Civic Center the last Wednesday of each month from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Presented by Kona Historical Society, in cooperation with Hawaii County, this free, public series is a gift from the Society to the community. This lecture is generously sponsored by Balbi Brooks and supported by West Hawaii Today. For more information call 808-323-3222 or visit www.konahistorical.org.
