Description

One critic ran out of superlatives to describe the sound of clarinetist Chad Burrow. Maui audiences can hear him at the Maui Classical Music Festival in May. Add to that two stellar cellists, two outstanding violinists and a trio of highly praised pianists. Back for their 36th year as music directors of the festival will be one of the pianists -- Katherine Collier -- and her husband, violist Yizhak Schotten. Concerts are May 5 at Makawao Union Church, May 8 and 12 at Keawalai Congregational Church in Makena and May 10 at Wananalua Congregational Church in Hana. “Maui Classical Music Festival has an exciting lineup of celebrated musicians this year, all new to the festival except for one of our favorites from the early Kapalua days, cellist David Hardy," said Collier. "He is principal cellist of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. One of their recordings, which featured David’s solo cello performance, won the 1996 Grammy Award for Best Classical Album."
