Getting to Lanai

There is no direct service to Lanai from the mainland. Instead, fly to Honolulu International Airport (HNL) or Kahului Airport (OGG) in Maui, where you can connect to several local airlines with service to Lanai Airport (LNY).  Otherwise, there is regular ferry service from Lahaina in Maui to Manele Harbor on Lanai’s southern coast.

Staying on Lanai

Lanai has two luxurious five-star resorts, and a smaller, less expensive hotel can be found in Lanai City. Otherwise, some residents offer rentals.

Like most of the islands, the weather on Lanai is pleasant and drier than most. Lanai City sits at nearly 1,700 feet, where the warmest months reach about 72º F. So you may want a light jacket.  Temperatures at the beaches are usually about 10º to 12º higher.

Traveling on Lanai

With no bus system, your transportation options on the island are limited to resort shuttles and rental cars, so make reservations in advance. To get a real sense of the island, rent a four-wheel-drive vehicle and experience everything Lanai has to offer.
