HULOPOE BAY TIDE POOLS, LANAI
Some of Hawaii's best lava rock tide pools can be found on Lanai's south shore in beautiful Hulopoe Bay. Beyond the picturesque beach here at Hulopoe, you'll find these large tide pools located at the eastern side of the bay, which is well protected and helps to keep waters calm for exploring.
Tide pools are created when rocky shores are covered and then exposed by the fluctuating tide. Small organisms adapt to this changing landscape, and many hermit crabs, sea stars, opihi (limpet), and small fish dwell here. Remember to use caution when walking on these slippery rocks and be careful not to disturb this unique habitat.
