DANCE
Legend says hula was born on Molokai. In May, join in a celebration of the ancient art of the hula at the Molokai Ka Hula Piko. Hula halau (schools) from all over the state gather at Papohaku Beach Park on the western tip of the island to perform ancient hulas rarely performed in public.
Unlike other festivals like the Merrie Monarch on Hawaii's Big Island, this is not a competition. Instead this is a pure celebration of the beauty of this unique Hawaiian art form. Admission is free so come by and watch the performances, shop for Molokai-made arts and crafts, and enjoy "ono grinds" (great food) at this truly Hawaiian event.
