'Meet & Greet' with local artist Emily Miller at Amy-Lauren's Gallery in Hanapepe on Friday November 23. Emily, who is well known for her Kauai watercolors, is also an accomplished photographer, glass artist, and sculptor. She will be available from 6-9 pm to sign prints and other artwork. Her original artwork will also be on display. This will be a fun evening as the event coincides with the Hanapepe Art Nite which is also from 6-9 pm. There will also be food available for purchase and children's games. Proceeds benefit the United Way and the Hawaii Island Food Bank. What has become a Thanksgiving Day weekend tradition, for three days from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. the Volcano Village Artists Hui opens up studios and offers a rare chance to purchase some of the best works on the island for all your holiday shopping. Visit and talk story with eleven Hui members including Mary Goodrich (photography), Cynee Gillette-Wenner (ethnic textiles, clothing accessories), Pam Barton (fiber art), Zeke Israel (raku ceramics, jewelry), Mag Barnaby (block printing and paintings), Lisa Louise Adams (painting, pottery, quilts), Michael and Misato Mortara (hand blown art glass), Erik Wold (high fired functional pottery), Randy Takaki (wood sculpture), and Ira Ono (multi media, ceramics). Joining the Hui at four of the six official open studios are five guest artists including Emily Herb (ceramics), Debra Serrao (paintings, collage), Meidor Hu (paintings, drawings, photographs), Susumu Sakaguchi (paintings), and Liz Miller (mixed media sculpture, drawings, paintings, prints).
