Description
McBryde Garden is part of the nonprofit National Tropical Botanical Garden institution.
McBryde is a botanical ark for threatened and endangered plants of the tropics. Located in the verdant Lawa`i Valley, this garden is home to the world’s largest collection of native Hawaiian species outside the wild, and extensive plantings of palms, flowering trees, heliconias, orchids, and other plants from tropical regions. The landscape is a combination of sprawling expanses and niches of plantings, bordering a meandering stream. The Conservation and Horticulture Center serves as an emergency room for endangered species. McBryde Garden is adjacent to NTBG's Allerton Garden. Garden vehicles bring visitors into these valley gardens from the Southshore Visitors Center in Poipu.
Self-guided tours of McBryde Garden available daily every hour on the 1/2-hour 9:30-2:30 pm. Other areas of this garden are offered via the guided Waterfall Discovery Tour, which also includes parts of the Allerton Garden.
