Description

Kapolei Golf Course combines prevailing trade winds, over 70 sand bunkers, and three lakes to create a desirable Hawaii golf experience on Oahu's sunny Leeward plain. A former site of the LPGA Hawaiian Ladies Open, Kapolei's wide landing areas and generous greenside chipping areas deliver a high level of overall playability for golfers of all levels.

While water comes into play on just three of the front nine's holes, this Ted Robinson designed course's back nine brings water into view, if not necessarily into play, on virtually every hole. The par-4 No. 10 plays from an island tee box to a straightaway fairway with water on the right. The par-4 at No. 11 moves right with water catching both wayward tee shots and approaches. The par-5 at No. 15 demands a water-carry on the second shot to set up a short approach.

After the tricky 3-par 16, with its prevailing left-to-right crosswind, Kapolei closes with a par-5 and par-4 at 17 and 18 that plays long into the teeth-of-the-wind. Many a good round has been snubbed at the finish, not just by the water short and left of the green, but by the bubbling brook and rock garden just to the left of the putting surface.
