Royal Kunia Country Club
Oahu
Description
"Behind a beautifully bunkered green protected by a large pond at the Royal Kunia Country Club's 600-yard, par-5 ninth hole, golfers are presented with a compelling view of Pearl Harbor, the skyline of downtown Honolulu, and Diamond Head.
By the time you've enjoyed this enticing view, you've already experienced half of this rewarding Robin Nelson designed golf course that combines gorgeous long views and abundant shot values. Royal Kunia is the most recent Oahu golf course to open (2003)' even though it was actually built in 1994' and marks the last of six new courses that emerged along the Kunia Road/Fort Weaver Road corridor.
This course moves across a gently undulating landscape featuring short par-4 holes and demanding par-5s. After an opening par-4 where the green sits in a protective bowl, a daunting par-4 awaits at No. 2. Featuring water along its entire right side all the way to the green, the fairway legs to the right and calls for an approach into the prevailing trade winds. Playing the prevailing trades is a dominant course characteristic at the eminently fair and visually stimulating Royal Kunia."
