KAPAHULU RESTAURANTS

KAPAHULU, OAHU

Just minutes from Waikiki, take a drive to Kapahulu and eat where the locals eat. From a heaping plate lunch at the Rainbow Drive-In to an all-you-can-eat Egyptian lunch buffet at Pyramids, Kapahulu has something for everybody.

No trip to Hawaii is complete without sampling some authentic Hawaiian food. A sure bet is at Ono Hawaiian Foods right on Kapahulu Ave. Sample mouth-watering Hawaiian dishes like lau lau, poi, and lomi lomi salmon. But get ready for a wait – this place is popular with the locals.

Other popular places include Irifune, a quaint Japanese restaurant that serves a popular garlic ahi dish. Stop next door for a nightcap at Uncle Bo’s, which has a stylish bar that brings some modern style to this casual neighborhood. For Chinese food, try Hee Hing Restaurant. Sure Waikiki has plenty of wonderful places to eat, but to really get a taste of Oahu and its people, make the trip to Kapahulu.
