Description

Enjoy discovering the ancient Hawaiian craft of kapa. The wide varieties of natural colors available are one of the unique characteristics of Hawaiian kapa. This session will focus primarily on the natural dyes created from native and Polynesian introduced plants. Participants will learn how to process different types of plant material for the dyes. Students will also be instructed on the many steps necessary to produce a piece of kapa. No experience with producing dyes or prior knowledge of kapa or Hawaiian plants necessary.
