Two days! Laukanaka Ka Hula…Throngs of Hula People Gather, the 40th Anniversary of the Prince Lot Hula Festival, will take place at Iolani Palace on Saturday, July 15 from 9 am to 4 pm and Sunday, July 16 from 10 am to 3 pm. The largest non-competitive hula celebration in Hawaii, the festival is held each year to honor Prince Lot Kapuaiwa who reprised the once forbidden hula in the district of Moanalua. The festival will feature an impressive line-up of 20 premier hula groups who will perform ancient and contemporary hula over the festival weekend. There will also be cultural demonstrations, a Hawaiian-inspired craft fair, poi pounding workshops, entertainment and more.Local food and refreshments will be available for purchase on both days. There is no charge to attend the festival, however, a button donation to non-profit Moanalua Gardens Foundation, the festival's presenter, is requested to raise funds to support the event.
