The Maui Classical Music Festival is celebrating its 35th anniversary with exuberant brass.
That would be the artistry of horn player William VerMeulen, acclaimed as "one of today's superstars of the international brass scene."
VerMeulen is joining nine other acclaimed musicians for a series of concerts between May 6 and 11 at historic churches and a May 13 gala where the audience will be seated around the musicians on stage at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
The others include violinists Soovin Kim, praised for a "brilliant luster," and Robyn Bollinger, "an incredible craftsman on the instrument"; cellists Edward Arron, who plays with "a satiny tone," and prize-winning Desmond Hoebig; violist Aloysia Friedmann, another prize winner; and pianists Gloria Chien and Heng-Jin Park.
