Volunteer with Breadfruit Agroforestry Project (Tropical Food Forest)
The Breadfruit Institute at National Tropical Botanical Garden is seeking agroforestry volunteers to help with a new, global model in sustainable and regenerative agriculture at the Breadfruit Research Orchard in McBryde Garden on Kauai.
Become a volunteer and be a part of this exciting tropical agroforestry project! You'll help; prepare and enrich the soil, erect a protective pig fence, learn new planting techniques and more!
One time, visiting volunteers are welcome & encouraged to participate. 4-hour minimum commitment requested.
Opportunities for those under the age of 18 may be available, please inquire for age-appropriate tasks on your requested volunteer date.

Service opportunities are also offered on an ongoing basis, every Friday, helping to maintain and provide care for the Agroforestry Project. Other days may be available, please inquire for this weeks schedule.
A great volunteer is prepared for exposure to the elements (sun, wind, rain, mosquitoes), has their own refillable water bottle and snacks/lunch. Closed toe shoes are a requirement for participation. Volunteers will be walking on uneven soil / terrain.
Physical activity anticipated includes bending, reaching, stretching motions. Light to moderate lifting may be involved. Adapting tasks may be possible, NTBG also has positions available in the Conservation Nursery that can be modified or adapted for those with physical or mobility limitation.
