Waimea Valley 4th Annual Kalo & Awa Festival

Waimea Valley presents the 4th Annual Kalo & Awa Festival on Saturday, September 10th 2016. Festivities being at 9am and will take place at Pikake Pavilion and the Main Lawn located in the Valley. This a free event and open to the public. Join us for kalo farmer displays, cultural practitioners, kalo & awa tastings and identifications, huli giveaways, live music and more. This year we have a very special list of guest speakers, topics, and demonstrations which include:

Jerry Konanui: Varieties, harvesting and processing awa, and where we are with awa today

Kamanao Pono Crabbe: Significance and protocol of kalo & awa in ceremonies
Mokihana Albert & Anthony “Skip” Deluze: Local farming and identification of kalo & awa
Alika Bajo: La’au & lapa’au demonstration
