Kauaʻi Gardens & Parks

Kauaʻi is known as “The Garden Isle” for its tropical rainforests, fertile valleys and lush flora. So it’s not surprising to find some of Hawaiʻi’s most beautiful botanical gardens on Kauaʻi. You can find three of the nation’s five National Tropical Botanical Gardens on Kauaʻi: Allerton Garden and McBryde Garden on the South Shore, and Limahuli Garden in Hāʻena. McBryde Garden is home to the largest collection of native Hawaiian flora in the world, while Allerton Garden features amazing landscaping and the giant Moreton Bay Fig Trees made famous in the film Jurassic Park. The 17-acre Limahuli Garden offers endangered native plants, taro-filled agricultural terraces and beautiful views of the North Shore.

Other botanical gardens and plantations include  ʻāina Kai Botanical Gardens, Smith’s Tropical Paradise Botanical Garden and the Kauaʻi Coffee Plantation. You can also take a tour of Hanalei’s taro farms to learn about this versatile Hawaiian root starch.
