Maui Lūʻau
Welcoming honored guests is another reason to hold a lūʻau, and visitors are welcomed to lūʻau on the Maui every week. There are several venues around the island where you’ll find lūʻau (most often in West Maui or South Maui), including the long-running Myths of Maui Lūʻau at the Royal Lāhainā Resort and Drums of the Pacific at the Hyatt Regency. The Old Lāhainā Lūʻau offers a popular sunset feast on spectacular oceanfront grounds right off Front Street. Some lūʻau, like Feast of Lele even present gourmet takes on traditional dishes, complete with wine pairings.
You’ll dine on kālua pig cooked in an imu (earth oven), haupia (coconut pudding) and poi (Hawaiian taro starch), among many other delightful dishes. Then you can settle in under the stars, listen to live music and watch skilled hula performances that tell stories of the islands. For a colorful, interactive experience of our culture, there’s nothing quite like an authentic lūʻau – a must-have experience for any visit to Maui.
