하와이의 문화 행사
매년 하와이에서는 독특한 하와이 악기, 뛰어난 뮤지션, 흥겨운 노래가 한데 어우러진 흥겨운 음악 축제가 열립니다. 와이키키의 카피올라니 파크에서 열리는 7월의 우쿨렐레 페스티벌에 참여해 보세요. 사람들은 우쿨렐레를 고대 하와이 악기로 생각하지만, 우쿨렐레는 사실 19세기 말 포르투갈 이민자들이 들여온 악기입니다. 오늘날에도 하와이 음악의 기본을 이루는 우쿨렐레는 무대에서뿐만 아니라 가족과의 파티에서나 여유로운 해변에서도 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있죠.

하와이 아일랜드에서 9월에 열리는 코나 슬랙키 페스티벌은 하와이 음악에서 또 하나 빠질 수 없는 악기인 기타를 하와이 방식으로 연주하는 축제입니다.‘슬랙키’는 여유롭고 온화한 하와이의 문화와 기후와 닮았듯이 느슨하게 튜닝된 줄을 뜯는 주법을 말합니다.
