Me Ke Aloha

Me Ke Aloha Event Invites The Community to Walk in the Footsteps of Molokaʻi’s Ancestors

A powerful celebration of culture, land stewardship, and youth leadership is coming to Molokaʻi with Me Ke Aloha, an event presented by Nā Keiki O Kalamaʻula that calls the community and visitors alike to walk in the footsteps of the island’s ancestors.

Rooted in the ancestral value of mālama ʻāina—to care for and honor the land—Me Ke Aloha highlights how traditional knowledge has long guided the sustainable relationship between people and the environment. Long before modern conservation practices, Molokaʻi’s kūpuna understood that caring for the land was inseparable from caring for the community. This event brings those teachings forward, making them relevant and accessible for today’s generation.

Through hands-on learning, storytelling, and cultural education, Me Ke Aloha will explore how ancestral practices protected natural resources and ensured the island’s wellbeing for future generations. Participants will be invited to deepen their understanding of the land, not as something to be used, but as something to be respected, protected, and loved.

The community is invited to experience Me Ke Aloha on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Moloka’i Canoe Shack / Molokai Canoe Club - Kaunakakai, Molokaʻi. The event will feature cultural and educational workshops, live entertainment, ʻono food prepared by Molokaʻi Youth Groups, and beautiful craft booths showcasing local talent and creativity.

Visitors can expect an authentic, educational experience that offers insight into Molokaʻi’s deep cultural roots, while locals will find renewed pride in seeing the next generation rise as caretakers of the land. Me Ke Aloha serves as both a reminder and an invitation: to slow down, to listen, and to walk gently upon the ʻāina.

The community is encouraged to come be a part of this inspiring gathering—one that honors the past, uplifts the present, and safeguards the future of the island we love so much, Molokaʻi.
