Founded in 1955, Assets is the ONLY school in Hawai‘i specializing in educating students who are gifted, dyslexic, or have other language-based learning differences in grades kindergarten through twelfth. We provide a life-changing journey for the student and family. Our typical student-to-teacher ratio is 8 to 1 in a safe and nurturing environment. We are a school where personalized learning is a reality, where a strength-based curriculum brings out a child's natural curiosity and interest in learning. At Assets, students with great minds who think differently find joy, and belonging and develop their talents to benefit society in previous unimagined ways. Our students are accepted and affirmed as learners and individuals, where the whole student matters--academic, social and emotional development are valued equally. Our school offers an award-winning robotics program, drama, art, music, technology design, and more. Our high school students thrive in our Mentorship Program which along with their studies prepares them for college and their career path. All students beginning in the ninth-grade work with our College and Career Counselor. All of our 2024 graduates were accepted to college. Financial Aid is available, and we provide private tours. We have year-round enrollment and offer outstanding summer school opportunities for grades kindergarten through twelfth, and summer camps. In 2022, Assets opened the Transforming Lives Center which is the first private school-based full resource center on O‘ahu to provide comprehensive assessments of students who maybe struggling in a traditional school setting or facing academic challenges. At a reasonable fee, any student kindergarten through twelfth-grade can be assessed. Learn more at assets-school.org/community/transforming-lives-center. Assets also offers a complimentary reading screening to public, private, charter, or homeschooled students from mid-kindergarten through third grade. Children who encounter challenges in reading, rhyming, and mastering the alphabet are the best candidates. The Predictive Assessment of Reading (PAR) assesses your child's reading proficiency and identifies areas where they might need more help. The screening will take place at the K-8 campus at One ‘Ohana Nui Way and is by appointment only. Learn more at assets-school.org/community/reading-screening-info.
