A visit to the Grove Farm Homestead in Līhuʻe provides visitors with a fascinating look into the island's past. Hawaiʻi’s booming sugar plantation industry in the late 1800s had its origins on Kauaʻi. Grove Farm, one of the earliest sugar plantations and the former home of George N. Wilcox and his descendants, was founded in 1864. Today, this 100-acre, historic site showcases life during Kauaʻi’s plantation era more than a century ago. By appointment, a tour takes visitors throughout the property, which includes the gracious old Wilcox home and the cottage of the plantation housekeeper situated amidst tropical gardens, orchards and rolling lawns. Make a reservation and learn more about how sugar plantations influenced the history of the islands.

Note: Tours are available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Advanced reservations are required for the two-hour tour.
