OUT IN PARADISE - Film SCreening


Lei Pua 'Ala Queer Histories of Hawai'i
and the Honolulu Pride, A Project of the Hawaii LGBT Legacy Foundation Queer Women Initiative announce a special screening of OUT IN PARADISE, a groundbreaking documentary about the diversity of lesbian and gay life in Hawaiʻi that premiered at the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival in 1993.
Produced by Sara Banks and Kate Sample, the award-winning film explores the lives of over 30 brave women as they discuss coming out, family, work and culture. With humor and candor, these women share the perplexity of living authentically in an island culture that for the most part preferred they stay in the closet.
Free and open to the public, the screening of OUT IN PARADISE will take place at the Hawaiʻi Theatre Center in downtown Honolulu at 6:00pm on Tuesday, June 10. It will be followed by a lively Q&A and conversation with producers Banks and Sample, along with several of the women featured in the film.
