Oʻahu for two
Welcome to the beating heart of the Hawaiian Islands. From the bright city lights and sunset happy hours to five-star luxury and laidback historical charm, Oʻahu offers a full range of experiences for couples of all ages.
Day One: Surf the world’s most famous break
Hit the waves on a longboard at Waikīkī Beach, the birthplace of modern surfing. Waikīkī is where Hawaiian waterman and ‘ambassador of aloha’ Duke Kahanamoku popularised the sport in the ‘60s. Since then, the locals have embraced the surfing with enthusiastic fervour and they are happy to share the waves. Book in for a surfing lesson, or hire a board, Stand-Up Paddleboard or kayak. Whatever way you choose to get out on the water, the gentle waves of Waikīkī are a playground for people of all skill levels.

Day Two: Top down to drive north
You’ll find that driving is a breeze on Oʻahu. Hire a convertible and feel the wind in your hair as you head north for a fresh perspective on Oʻahu. Stop off at Waimānalo beach and Makapuʻu lookout, and watch the scenery change from a cityscape to rugged mountain ranges on your way to the North Shore. Swing by Kahuku Shrimp Shack for freshly farmed shrimp or cool down with a rainbow-coloured shave ice at one of the roadside stalls. Drop into Haleʻiwa town, a historic village, and check into your north shore accommodation in time for the legendary north shore sunset.

Day Three: Ride like a paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy)
Kuaola Ranch is a working cattle ranch with scenery reminiscent of the Jurassic Park movies. Kuaola Ranch is also known as ‘Hollywood’s backlot’ because of its starring role in blockbuster movies such as the Jurassic Park, Godzilla and other Elvis classics. Visitors can saddle up for a horse ride through the lush rainforest landscape, zipline, take an ATV tour or go on a self-guided hike.

Day Four: Luxury overload
If you’re craving a little bit of pampering, check into one of Waikīkī’s five-star day spas. Places such as the Moana Lani Spa offer a full range of treatments, including traditional lomilomi massages, available in couple’s rooms for the ultimate in romantic relaxation. After your treatments, float down to the beach for sunset Mai Tais, followed by an evening of exquisite dining at the beachfront restaurants overlooking Waikīkī beach.
Day Five: Ancient Hawaiian culture brought to life
Did you know that the Hawaiian Islands were a self-ruled monarchy until the 1800s? What about the star navigation techniques Ancient Hawaiians used to sail around the world? Immerse yourself in Hawaiian history and culture, and admire the rare Hawaiian artefacts on display at The Bishop Museum. Other his-toric sites included ʻIolani Palace, Pearl Harbor and Waimea Valley, all a short drive from Waikīkī.
